Dr. Joseph O'Connell loves providing the variety of care to patients he encounters each day as a family practice physician. He joined FirstCare Family Doctors in August, 2002, because of their reputation of providing quality care. Dr. O'Connell is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Practice.

Dr. O'Connell discovered his interest in medicine when he was in college working at a sports medicine clinic. He worked in architecture in New York before deciding to pursue his medical degree at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse Medical School in New York.

Dr. O'Connell and his wife came to Northwest Arkansas in 1999 where he completed his residency at the Area Center for Health Education. His wife, Lynn is an architecture professor at the University of Arkansas. Dr. O'Connell is a University of Arkansas Women's Athletic Physician, volunteers at the free clinic, and coahes youth hockey. When he is not seeing patients, you can find him playing hockey or golf, enjoying films, theater or working on his house.
